About The Position

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a second shift Manager Test Inspection 2 to support the Quality & Mission Assurance function at their Elkton, Maryland site. The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Discover charming small towns, parks with miles of trails, specialty and antique shops, award winning restaurants, and inns. You can hike, bike, camp, bird watch, ride horseback, or drop a fishing line. Five rivers, Chesapeake Bay and the C&D Canal can be explored by boat or by land. Requirements

  • Five years or more experience in varying metrology disciplines (receiving inspection, in-process, calibration, etc.)
  • Prior management experience
  • Experience with varying software, including PC-DMIS
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T, AS9102, AS9100 and RCCA
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands
  • Strong communication, coordination, and organizational abilities
  • Ability to acquire a security clearance which requires U.S.A. citizenship

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Quality related certifications such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI, CMQ/OE, etc.)
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Previous second shift management experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily shift guidance to a team of inspectors supporting metal parts, calibration, and in-process inspection.
  • Ensures the inspection tools, equipment, and process control documents adhere to quality requirements.
  • Works with cross functional management to prioritize manufacturing and product testing.
  • Able to identify and resolve quality related issues expeditiously and proficiently.
  • Drive continual improvement though Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Perform as a working manager, assisting in inspections and improving throughput.
  • Success in this role will require sound judgment, innovative thinking and excellent interpersonal/management skills to plan, motivate and accomplish goals through your staff.
