We currently have an opportunity for a Manager, Technology development & Commercialization at our Corporate Headquarters in Lake Forest , IL . The Manager, Technology Development & Commercialization is responsible for leading advanced technology development programs, including campaign execution, technical program management, and commercialization of emerging materials and process technologies. The position operates in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and requires strong decision-making under uncertainty. Beyond program execution, this role plays a critical part in shaping and advancing strategic technology platforms from concept through commercialization. The individual will help define development strategies and bridge early-stage technology development, manufacturing scale-up, and business implementation to enable scalable, value-generating outcomes. The role partners cross-functionally to structure development efforts, challenge technical direction (including experimental design and conclusions), and translate technical learnings into scalable manufacturing and commercialization pathways. This individual brings an independent perspective to accelerate learning, improve decision quality, and drive alignment to business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
  • 6+ years of Experience in manufacturing scale-up, pilot operations, or product/material commercialization
  • Strong program/project management experience in technical environments
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, ambiguous development environments
  • Experience in chemistry, materials science, or process engineering, particularly in development, scale-up, or commercialization environments
  • Strong ability to operate with incomplete data and drive timely decisions
  • Ability to challenge technical direction using structured thinking
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to translate technical work into business impact
  • High urgency, ownership mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and executive audiences

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar project management certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end campaign management for advanced technology programs, including planning, execution tracking, and decision gate management.
  • Drive program management across multiple technical workstreams with clear priorities, timelines, risks, and deliverables
  • Support long-term technology roadmaps, strategic partnerships, and growth initiatives aligned with Reynolds Recycling objectives
  • Evaluate external technologies, technical partners, consultants, and strategic opportunities that can accelerate learning and support future growth
  • Review and evaluate experimental design, data interpretation, and conclusions to ensure robust, decision-oriented learning
  • Translate technical insights into actionable development plans and commercialization strategies
  • Lead scale-up planning from pilot to manufacturing, identifying risks related to variability, process capability, commercial viability, and operational readiness
  • Provide objective technical and commercial assessments to support informed decision-making and accelerate program execution
  • Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial teams, and external consultants to align execution
  • Lead the integration of developed technologies and programs into existing business systems, processes, and operations to enable successful commercialization and sustained execution
  • Drive manufacturing readiness including trial planning, validation, and implementation considerations
  • Develop executive-level communication that translates complex technical issues, risks, and trade-offs into clear, actionable business decisions for senior leadership
  • Identify and proactively mitigate technical, operational, and commercialization risks
  • Support broader new technology development and strategic innovation initiatives
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across programs by establishing disciplined data management, analytics, and reporting practices to enable high-quality, decision-driven execution
