About The Position

Under the guidance of the Director, Protection Services the Manager, Technical Security Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the technical security operations of the Protection Services department, including selection, installation, upgrade, and integration of comprehensive security and life safety systems, as well as the around-the-clock operation of the Integrated Operations Center.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in information systems or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field preferred.
  • Six (6) years of related work experience in technical security operations or project management at a supervisory or leadership level required. Additional years of experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills to work across departments and divisions internally and with diverse stakeholders externally.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills to plan, manage, prioritize, and complete multiple on-going projects to meet deadlines and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, including presenting or sharing information in a clear, effective, and engaging manner suited to the audience.
  • Demonstrated research and analysis skills to identify critical information and complete projects and goals.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changes in priorities based on operational need.
  • Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, engage others in their resolution, and recommend appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to communicate with, manage and oversee vendors to meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze information from multiple sources and systems to make operational decisions and produce intelligence reports.
  • Working knowledge of open-source data and information mining techniques, information assessment, distillation, and compilation.
  • Must have a comprehensive general understanding of security, fire and safety systems, and procedures.
  • Must possess a demonstrated understanding of ethical business conduct and professional practices including maintenance and protection of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to calmly and professionally deescalate and resolve challenging situations with team members and visitors.
  • Ability to respond calmly and make decisions in urgent and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work regular weekend, evening, and holiday hours.
  • Must be proficient in the latest version of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork. This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and manage all aspects of the museum’s technical security and life safety functions, including security cameras, access control, asset protection and control, intrusion detection, employee identification, visitor management, fire detection and suppression, two-way radio, records management, and related systems in coordination with the Director of Protection Services.
  • Plan and execute comprehensive security systems projects involving multiple departments across the museum and security systems vendors.
  • Lead and oversee the efficient operation of the Integrated Operations Center, a 24-houroperationsand intelligence center, including the production and dissemination of timely intelligence that may impact the operations of the museum.
  • Coordinate with other operational departments to provide maximum operational support through the Integrated Operations Center.
  • Develop, update, and administer a comprehensive training program for staff assigned to the Integrated Operations Center.
  • Develop, update, and reinforce policy, procedure, and protocols for the efficient operation of the Integrated Operations Center.
  • Work closely with Information Technology department to ensure compliance and integration of all security systems and technologies.
  • Liaise with public and private partners at all levels to develop technological protection strategies and information-sharing to the benefit of the museum.
  • Initiate investigations into policy violations, injuries, hazards, and other incidents as directed.
  • Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
