About The Position

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams. GenAI Safety works on preventing user harm from GenAI models, including but not limited to Gemini itself. We train and evaluate the models, red team them, and also work on related technology such as monitoring and data pipelines. As a Senior Technical Program Manager for AI Safety within the Safety and Behavior Technical Program Manager (TPgM) team, you will serve as the core operational orchestrator ensuring our Gemini models are safe, robust, and aligned. In this role, you will define and execute the operational strategy for GenAI Post-Training, bridging the gap between research and production-scale delivery. Your scope spans coordinating large-scale model training and evaluation infrastructure to driving a broad portfolio of frontier AGI safety and alignment initiatives. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in program management.
5 years of experience in leadership roles with/without direct reports.

Responsibilities

Drive end-to-end delivery of SFT and RL training data for AI Safety, establishing durable project structures, clear milestones, quality bars, and operating rhythms that ensure consistent on-time execution.
Manage a broad portfolio spanning near-term model development through long-term AGI Safety and Alignment research, balancing shipping urgency against foundational scientific investment, and sequencing work so both near-term launches and long-horizon research progress.
Coordinate cross-functionally across Gemini Release, Model Behavior, and Multi-turn research teams, aligning stakeholders on shared plans, dependencies, and timelines, and building consensus without direct authority.
Engage deeply with technical detail, including safety evaluations and loss functions, to ensure accurate measurement, sound tradeoffs, and credible solution development alongside researchers and research engineers.
Surface blockers, streamline execution, drive tooling improvements that unblock research and engineering teams, and manage high-visibility executive reviews with crisp, decision-ready communication.
