Reporting to the Director, Fiscal Policy, the Manager, Taxation and Insurance works in Iqaluit and contributes to decisions that impact all GN departments and Nunavummiut in all 25 communities. The Manager is responsible for overseeing the collection of territorial taxes throughout the year from individual and corporate taxpayers in all communities as well as fostering a strong working relationship with the Canada Revenue Agency, which collects income taxes on the GN’s behalf, and for managing the agreement that formally establishes this partnership. The Manager is also responsible for developing tax policies and procedures to improve the administration of, and compliance with, Nunavut’s tax system, and communicating these policies and procedures appropriately. The Manager will be making decisions on several tax-related issues, recommending appropriate courses of action to senior management and the Minister when appropriate and contributing to other departmental and government initiatives as required.
