About The Position

Sony Corporation of America is seeking a Manager, Tax Compliance for the Global Tax Office located in New York, NY. This role supports federal and state tax compliance, income tax provision reporting, forecasting, and U.S. international tax matters for Sony Interactive Entertainment and other assigned entities. The Manager, Tax compliance partners with accounting, finance, legal, and tax specialty teams, monitors evolving tax requirements, supports audits and special projects, and drives process improvements across tax provision and compliance operations. This position will be on a Hybrid schedule with 3-4 days per week in the New York City office.

Requirements

Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in corporate tax accounting, compliance, and tax provision preparation, preferably in a large multinational company and/or a public accounting firm.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field is required.
Comprehensive knowledge and technical competence in book-to-tax accounting, as well as federal and state income tax concepts applicable to multinational organizations, is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of SAP/BPC.
Knowledge of CorpTax compliance software and OneSource Tax Provision required.
Must be authorized to work unrestricted within the United States.

Nice To Haves

CPA and/or Masters in Tax preferred.
Knowledge of IFRS a plus.
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and proven capability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review supporting tax return workpapers, tax packages, elections, disclosures, and forms for the federal and state corporate income, partnership, and withholding tax returns for Sony Interactive Entertainment and other assigned entities.
Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provision calculation in accordance with IAS 12; computation of book to tax differences; tracking of deferred taxes inventory; tax account analysis and reconciliations; assist with effective tax rate reconciliation and other analysis of income tax amounts including preparation of tax-related journal entries for Sony Interactive Entertainment Segment and other assigned entities.
Prepare tax forecast, budget, and cash flow for Sony Interactive Entertainment Segment.
Analyze and support on matters related to US international considerations including foreign-source income, FDII, BEAT, foreign tax credits and withholding taxes.
Work closely with the accounting, finance, and legal teams at Sony Interactive Entertainment on tax-related matters.
Monitor U.S. tax developments and related international rules impacting US filings, including OECD BEPS/Pillar Two to assess impacts on the business and assist with related reporting requirements.
Assist with the research and development calculation for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Assist with consolidated/combined Federal/State filing audits; handling of standalone Federal/State audits.
Identify and support process improvement initiatives within the tax provision and compliance operations to enhance efficiency through the implementation of innovative solutions, technology enhancements, and collaboration with other tax specialty groups.
Proactively manage and maintain provision and compliance deadlines.
Assist in special tax projects as needed.
