About The Position

This job directs and integrates nursing professional development throughout the health system. Collaborates with facility-based nursing professional development, nursing operations, human resources and organizational management to implement educational goals. Maintains open communication with staff and the administrative team to promote improvement in performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
  • 5 years of clinical nursing experience and 2 years of either education or healthcare operations experience.
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Certification in specialty area.
  • Knowledge of management principles and practices including performance improvement.
  • Sound knowledge of nursing practice.
  • Good organizational and time management skills and ability to manage priorities and projects involving multiple constituencies.
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Ability to be self-directed and demonstrate good judgment in handling difficult situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the day to day operations of the system nursing professional development (SNPD) department including employee engagement, budget management, competency assessment, evaluations, and human resource management.
  • Supports the relationship between human resources and nursing in order to support the professional development and growth of nursing personnel in the organization.
  • Develops and manages programs to support the professional development of nursing staff across the system, including but not limited to preceptor, mentor, and clinical ladder programs.
  • Works with community workforce development to advise and support clinical programs being developed to ensure the organization’s commitment to an educated, diverse workforce.
  • Provides nursing expertise in order to plan and execute programing for nursing students.
  • Oversees collection and maintains data to support the success of professional development programs across the system.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
