About The Position

M&T Bank is seeking a Manager of Enterprise Payments to define and execute the strategy, modernization, and future-state evolution of one of the bank's most critical enterprise capabilities. This leader will set the vision, roadmap, and investment priorities for M&T's enterprise payments ecosystem, including ACH, Wire, SWIFT, Zelle, RTP, FedNow, Payment APIs, and emerging payment capabilities. Working across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and the Lines of Business, they will drive modernization, operational excellence, resiliency, and innovation at enterprise scale. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • A combined minimum of 10+ years of higher education/and or work experience of product management, product ownership, business, technology, payments, or related experience.

  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams within a complex organization.
  • Experience and expertise across enterprise payment ecosystems, including ACH, Wire Transfers, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow, Payment APIs, Digital Assets, Zelle/P2P, treasury services, transaction banking, or related financial services domains.
  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise product organizations and delivering large-scale strategic initiatives.
  • Experience leading payment transformation, modernization, platform migration, or technology enablement programs.

  • Strong understanding of payment operations, money movement infrastructure, payment networks, and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Enterprise Payments Vision: Define the roadmap for enterprise payment capabilities, aligning investments and priorities with business objectives, customer needs, regulatory requirements, and technology strategy. Develop and communicate a compelling long-term vision for payments architecture, modernization, customer experience, resiliency, and innovation. Lead the evolution of payment capabilities across ACH, Zelle/P2P, Wire Transfers, SWIFT, Real-Time Payments (RTP), FedNow, Payment APIs, Digital Assets, and emerging payment technologies. Identify and evaluate emerging industry trends, payment networks, fintech innovations, and technologies that enhance the bank's competitive position and future-state capabilities. Advocate for customer and business needs while balancing operational, technology, risk, and regulatory considerations.
  • Drive Product Delivery and Execution: Lead multiple agile product teams responsible for enterprise payment products and services, ensuring alignment across priorities, dependencies, and delivery objectives. Develop and execute multi-year capability roadmaps that align business goals, customer needs, technology strategies, industry trends, and regulatory expectations. Own and manage the product portfolio supporting enterprise payment capabilities and related modernization initiatives. Lead major transformation efforts focused on payment modernization, cloud enablement, platform simplification, API adoption, resiliency improvements, and future-state innovation. Establish business requirements, define feature priorities, and guide delivery teams to ensure solutions meet business objectives, customer expectations, operational requirements, and regulatory obligations. Make informed prioritization and trade-off decisions across competing business, technology, operational, and regulatory demands to maximize enterprise value. Drive continuous improvement through automation, simplification, operational efficiency, and modernization initiatives. Establish key performance indicators and measurable outcomes that assess capability health, customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, resiliency, risk management, and business value realization.
  • Inspire and Develop High-Performing Teams: Lead, coach, and develop a team of Product Owners responsible for key enterprise payment capabilities. Foster a culture of delivery excellence, innovation, agility, and continuous improvement. Champion best practices in product management, agile delivery, customer-centric design, and enterprise prioritization. Help mature and scale product management capabilities across the payments organization and broader enterprise.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Partner closely with senior leaders across Technology, Architecture, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and business lines to align priorities and deliver strategic outcomes. Translate enterprise objectives into scalable products, capabilities, and measurable business results. Lead cross-functional conversations around future-state architecture, platform resiliency, payment modernization, digital enablement, and innovation initiatives. Build strong partnerships across the organization while influencing stakeholders around a shared vision for the future of payments. Serve as an executive advocate for Enterprise Payments, ensuring strategic investments and technology initiatives remain aligned to enterprise priorities. Represent M&T's payments strategy and capabilities in enterprise forums, strategic planning discussions, and industry-facing engagements as appropriate.
