About The Position

Introducing an exciting opportunity for a Manager of Advanced Practice for the top-tier Department of Surgery at Hartford Hospital! The Advanced Practice Manager will provide leadership to the advanced practice providers (APPs) on the Thoracic and Plastic Surgery services. Responsibilities will include but not limited to: implementing and monitoring institutional and departmental goals and objectives for APPs that aligns with the strategic direction of the organization; implementing individual performance evaluations; overseeing APP scheduling, Kronos payroll, and resource utilization in collaboration with surgical residencies; participating in recruitment, interviewing, hiring processes for new APPs within management area; ensuring timely credentialing and re-credentialing (including OPPE/FPPE) of the APPs by the Medical Staff Office in compliance with Medical Staff By-laws and Rules and Regulations. Clinical responsibilities may include managing multiple patients with varied critical illness, first-assisting in the OR, comprehensive physical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic results, daily progress notes, patient/family education, and meetings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
  • Minimum 5 years clinical experience within Thoracic or Plastic Surgery
  • Demonstrated ability to positively interact with medical/nursing staff and other members of multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate proficiency in invasive procedures
  • Qualified operative first assisting
