About The Position

SpaceX is hiring a Manager, Strategic Sourcing to support construction projects and capital purchases for its construction and facilities organizations, including construction of Terafab and related utilities and infrastructure projects. The position manages a team of 5–10 buyers and works with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and the legal department to develop sourcing strategies, manage contracts, and achieve cost, cash, and purchasing targets. The role is based onsite in Bastrop, Texas.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
At least 3 years of experience in one or more of the following: engineering; purchasing; contract negotiation; material or production planning; operations or supply chain management; master production scheduling; construction, facilities, or industrial plant management.
Ability to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours; up to 30% travel may be required, including international travel.
Ability to travel to the primary site, roughly 2 hours from the Bastrop campus.
Valid driver's license.
Must meet applicable U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of 5–10 buyers responsible for purchasing goods and services for Terafab construction, utilities, and other infrastructure projects.
Work with internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive contract management process for successful project execution.
Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet purchasing targets, including payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings.
Develop stakeholder relationships and strategic sourcing models that meet business-unit needs and support continuous cost reduction for controllable expenditures.
Identify and execute cost-reduction projects, including planning, stakeholder coordination, completion estimates, and project updates.
Perform quantitative and business-process analyses to identify financial impacts, cost improvements, and category performance.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define supplier SLAs and KPIs and measure business results, cost reduction, quality, and delivery timeliness.
Research and benchmark assigned categories and gather market analysis.
Create contract documents with the legal department and manage contracts to ensure supplier performance meets obligations.
Understand relationships between contracts and terms and apply creative solutions.
Negotiate strategically to maximize value and savings while reducing risk.
Drive year-over-year cost optimization by reducing usage and eliminating operational waste.
Establish preferred suppliers for assigned categories.
Create and implement programs to develop and continuously improve the supply base, manage supplier performance, and monitor KPIs.
Place purchase orders and resolve blocked invoices for assigned categories.
Lead efforts to reduce the number of transactions in assigned categories.
