About The Position

The Manager, Software Engineering leads a team of software engineers, owning delivery, quality, and the growth and development of the team. The role balances people leadership with technical oversight, partnering with product and design to ship high-impact work. It exists to build a high-performing engineering team that delivers reliable, high-quality product capabilities for Crexi.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years managing engineers preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing software engineering teams.
  • Strong technical foundation sufficient to guide architecture and review decisions.
  • Experience owning delivery, quality, and operational health for a team.
  • Ability to drive adoption of modern, AI-assisted engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise information to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify patterns, and present insights clearly and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, develops, and grows a team of software engineers, owning performance and development through the Engagement Review framework, including Success Plans where needed.
  • Owns the team’s delivery, quality, and operational health, partnering with product and design on roadmap and priorities.
  • Provides technical oversight and guidance, ensuring sound architecture, code quality, and engineering standards.
  • Drives team planning, execution cadence, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
  • Drives adoption of AI-assisted development tooling across the team to improve quality and velocity.
  • Recruits, hires, and onboards engineers, and fosters an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
  • Removes blockers and manages cross-team dependencies to keep delivery on track.
