About The Position

Peraton is currently seeking to hire an experienced Software Engineering Manager. The Software Engineering Manager oversees the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software systems and applications. This role requires strong technical leadership, the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams, and deep expertise in electronic data processing software engineering. The manager conducts research and directs teams in the planning, design, development, and utilization of software systems. Responsibilities include determining user and system needs, analyzing technical capabilities, and evaluating solutions for feasibility within time and budget constraints. The Software Engineering Manager collaborates closely with systems analysts, hardware engineers, programmers, and other technical stakeholders to define system architecture, resolve technical challenges, and ensure performance requirements and interface specifications are met. The manager applies scientific analysis and mathematical modeling to evaluate the impacts and outcomes of software design decisions. This role also oversees system installations, ensures adherence to software standards, monitors equipment functionality, and supports continuous improvement across development processes. The manager may be responsible for designing and developing compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems as required. Note: If the selected candidate is already supporting the program, they will maintain an Individual Contributor (IC) designation while functioning as an Engineering Manager. If the candidate is not currently on the program, they must also compete for and be selected into an open IC role on that program.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Supervisory or technical lead experience.
  • Strong background in software design, development, testing, and integration.
  • Demonstrated experience working with systems analysts, hardware engineers, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to apply scientific methods and mathematical models to engineering tasks.
  • Experience coordinating system installations and ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
