Requirements

  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership capacity.
  • Experience managing or contributing to large-scale screening, decisioning, or compliance platforms processing high transaction volumes.
  • Hands-on background in algorithmic systems, rule engines, or machine learning model deployment.
  • Familiarity with business control frameworks and operational tools in financial services or regulated environments.
  • Practical experience building or integrating AI/ML features into production systems, including exposure to LLMs, ML models, or intelligent automation.
  • Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, GKE) for data processing and ML workflows.
  • Understanding of MLOps fundamentals including model monitoring, versioning, and deployment best practices.
  • Familiarity with modern AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Langchain) and emerging AI technologies.
  • Exposure to AML/KYC, sanctions screening, fraud detection, or financial crime prevention systems.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory requirements such as OFAC, BSA/AML, or similar compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working with commercial screening tools (World-Check, Fircosoft, Actimize) or building custom screening solutions.
  • Awareness of risk scoring approaches and false positive reduction techniques.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Product, and Analytics teams to deliver technical solutions.
  • Experience translating business and regulatory requirements into engineering deliverables.
  • Comfort presenting technical updates and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance regulatory requirements, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
  • Solid foundation in data processing technologies (Spark, Kafka, SQL) and real-time or batch pipelines.
  • Experience building data workflows supporting operational systems and reporting/analytics needs.
  • Understanding of data quality, observability, and audit trail requirements.
  • Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams (10 engineers) or serving as a technical lead.
  • Track record of fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing within teams.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices and modern software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with people management responsibilities.
  • Contributions to technical design documents, architecture discussions, or engineering process improvements.
  • GCP certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Data Engineer) or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Background supporting multi-region or global platform operations.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manages software development projects (including program management) and execution through individual contributors.
  • May also lead project teams across platforms or groups.
  • Implements processes to drive strong operational hygiene for all components and systems within their group.
  • Responsible for the delivery of projects, including quality and timeliness, that impact their domain and potentially one other.
  • Demonstrates strong tactical ability by managing the roadmap for a scrum team responsible for technical issues of diverse scope where analysis requires an understanding of current business or trends.
  • Competent at communicating technical issues with non-technical audiences.
  • Analyzes multiple sources of information and identifies & resolves complex technical, operational, and organizational problems relating to software development.
  • Collaborates with direct team, managers in org, stakeholders such as Product Owners & PMO.
