About The Position

The Engineering Manager will lead and manage a team of product-focused software engineering resources to deliver business impact. This role is accountable for the delivery of products within the assigned product portfolio. The manager will work with their team to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full stack of development tools and technologies. The goal is to develop a service-oriented team that delivers exceptional business solutions aligning with business application requirements in a collaborative manner. Key metrics for delivery performance and quality will be tracked. Frequent collaboration with Product Owners and Team Leads is expected. The role requires effective decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic planning for product coding. Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports is crucial to champion a culture of excellence and continuous learning (Winning Behaviors). The manager will also provide technical information for annual budget preparation for software development, including necessary resources for timely business needs response. Anticipating future technology trends and business needs, along with continued education in emerging development trends and technologies, is important. Building positive relationships with teams and coworkers, prioritizing team product tasks and epic assignments, and ensuring standard operating procedures and project guidelines are met are key aspects of the role. Applying corporate and industry security policies across the team is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of information technology experience.
  • Experience managing IT Applications functions - software development, implementation, and support/maintenance services; scope management, timeline, budget, etc.
  • Experience utilizing Agile SDLC methodologies
  • Scrum (Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • CI/CD Pipelines (Azure DevOps).
  • Git (Bitbucket, Azure DevOps).
  • Java. 5+ years
  • DB2.
  • AS400 (logs, files).
  • Eclipse, IntelliJ.
  • Strong knowledge of process development and release management.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience as a supervisor/manager, to include developing strong performers, conducting performance and salary reviews, and providing career guidance and coaching.
  • 2+ years of experience managing software development team(s) supporting enterprise application solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience implementing Agile SDLC methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of code repositories.
