About The Position

We are seeking a Manager, Software Development to lead the evolution of Bentley’s Civil Engineering software portfolio. In this role, you will manage a globally distributed team of developers and oversee day‑to‑day operations, driving technical excellence, organizational transformation, and strategic impact. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to implement processes, guide engineering investment decisions, and deliver high‑quality, reliable solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience with 3+ years of technical experience.
  • Proven leadership experience managing globally distributed software teams with 2+ years of experience.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership skills.
  • High intellectual curiosity and adaptability to evolving tools, technologies, and industry trends.
  • A coaching‑oriented mindset with a passion for team and individual development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a global software engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Drive delivery of highly available, scalable, and performant cloud services.
  • Champion the transition to an Empowered Teams organizational model.
  • Promote modern engineering practices, tools, and workflows to improve productivity and quality.
  • Ensure high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and overall product stability.
  • Oversee release readiness, defect management, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
  • Use data, telemetry, customer feedback, and engineering insight to guide product strategies and prioritize engineering investments.
  • Optimize development efficiency and team focus.
  • Partner with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering, and leadership to align on product strategy and delivery goals.
  • Support cross‑functional coordination to ensure the success of major initiatives.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop high‑performing engineering talent.
  • Encourage continuous learning, skill development, and technical growth within the team.
