Manager, Software Development Engineer, Iris AI

DelineaRedwood City, CA
$160,000 - $180,000

About The Position

Delinea is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to join the leadership of Iris AI. You will manage a team of senior engineers who build and operate the services behind Delinea's AI features: LLM inference, retrieval, tool calling, agents, and evaluation. You will own a portion of the Iris AI roadmap and the engineers delivering it, hold a high bar for how LLM-powered features are built and verified, and grow a team that treats AI-assisted development as a core engineering discipline. You will report to the Director of Engineering, Iris AI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years directly managing software engineering teams, with a strong hands-on engineering background.
  • 7+ years designing, building, and shipping enterprise software products to production.
  • Hands-on experience shipping products built on LLMs (inference, structured outputs, RAG, tool calling, or agents) using Azure AI Foundry, OpenAI API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, Anthropic API, or similar.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) and a clear point of view on running a team that uses it well: spec-driven development, careful context management, and verified, tested output.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, microservices, and multi-tenant SaaS architecture, with experience on a major cloud provider (Azure preferred).
  • Proven ability to translate roadmaps into actionable plans, set priorities, and manage resourcing to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building tools, APIs, or integrations that AI agents call (MCP servers, function/tool-calling interfaces, plugins).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience launching new teams or products in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
  • Experience establishing AI-first engineering practices and measuring their impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and retain a team of software engineers within Iris AI, including hiring, coaching, 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development.
  • Translate product and engineering roadmaps into operational plans; own delivery, scope, and priorities for your team.
  • Partner with peer engineering managers, Product, UX, Architecture, and platform teams to align priorities and present results and recommendations.
  • Manage day-to-day engineering for your team, balancing feature delivery, reliability, technical debt, and LLM cost and latency.
  • Help establish quality practices for non-deterministic systems across Iris AI: eval harnesses, regression testing for prompts and agents, and production monitoring of model behavior.
  • Ensure AI features meet Delinea's security and privacy standards, including tenant data isolation, defenses against prompt injection and tool misuse, and responsible handling of customer audit data.
  • Oversee code and design reviews to maintain a high bar for performance, security, and maintainability.
  • Own the team's operational health: infrastructure as code with Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring, on-call, and incident response.
  • Champion AI-first engineering. The team uses coding agents to design, write, and review code daily; help set the practices that hold that output to the same standard as hand-written code, and measure the impact.
