Entegris is seeking a dynamic and highly interactive hands-on EHS Manager to manage all aspects of environmental health, and safety (EHS) and to lead development of sustainable EHS program for the Burnet, TX location. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for providing technical management and program leadership to ensure full compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) requirements and local, state and federal laws, standards, professional codes and internal EHS requirements. The EHS Manager will provide leadership to develop and implement initiatives and processes to establish and maintain a healthy, safe, compliant, and accident-free work environment. They lead the implementation and direction of site-wide EHS initiatives such as corporate and site-specific EHS goals, training, incident investigation, auditing and performance evaluation for the site. Secures engagement and buy-in among site employees and leadership. This position will also drive a sustainable environmentally compliant and solution driven operation. This position is also one of the key members participating in the site’s EHS Leadership Teams including Emergency Response and applicable safety committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety & health, chemistry, engineering, environmental science or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required.
  • A minimum seven (7) years, (ten + years preferred) proven EHS leadership experience with a focus on industrial chemical facility manufacturing.
  • Experience working with OSHA, US EPA, state-level and local ordinance and regulations.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in a highly dynamic production and R&D environment developing and manufacturing chemical products.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Safety laws, regulations, codes and best management practices
  • Strong cross-functional “team building” skills, including the ability to influence and motivate site leaders and employees through collaborative engagement and building and maintaining relationships.
  • High energy, motivation and commitment to take personal ownership of issues and drive them to exceptional outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports and regulatory documents/standards, make sound judgments and offer effective solutions.
  • Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel, 3rd party consultants, and work in a team environment.
  • Prioritizes actions based on team and business objectives and changing operating environments.

Nice To Haves

  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or similar professional credential(s) are a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the successful delivery of outstanding EHS results through effective EHS development, implementation and management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage plans to train managers, supervisors and employees in worksite safety practices, incident prevention, and EHSMS management.
  • Ensure adherence with employee occupational health and safety and environmental laws, rules and regulations, applicable company policies and procedures
  • Leads the implementation and management of site-wide initiatives such as corporate requirements including process safety, training, incident investigation, auditing and performance evaluation for the site.
  • Identify existing or potential EHS hazards and liabilities, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and manage the resolution of identified issues.
  • Support the design review of new projects and modifications to existing processes and facilities to identify and resolve EHS issues, and incorporate lessons learned from prior projects or alerts shared.
  • Lead efforts to secure all required environmental permits, licenses and authorizations associated with projects and modifications.
  • Manage incident investigation and reporting of accidents and auditing or inspection incidents, as necessary.
  • Ensure the preparation of investigation reports required by regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coordinate responsive communication with governmental agencies including information requests, investigations/inspections and notices of violation.
  • Provide support during investigations and inspections of plant and office inspections by regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare EHS metric reports that track the facility’s EHS performance.
  • Manages site responsibilities regarding ISO 14001 and 45001 EHSMS, coordinating the internal audits and supporting the maintenance of the system for the site.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication, working relationship development, and the ability to influence site management, front line supervision, and employees.
  • Manage EHS operations in alignment with company business strategy, and within assigned budget and manage risks to avoid unplanned impacts to company operations and Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Work with corporate EHS to develop or modify, plan and implement site environmental health, safety and security procedures to ensure alignment with Corporate EHS Policies, goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the site is responsible and complies with applicable EHS governmental regulations, legal requirements and handles all contact with appropriate agencies.
  • Communicate the EHS management system structure and strategy to all departments.
  • Communicate the role each employee plays in satisfying the EHS requirements.
  • Drive cross-functional continuous improvement activities with site leadership, operators, technicians, engineers and front-line employees to create shared EHS values.
  • Manage site environmental health and safety teams, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the site Safety, Ergonomic and Environmental Committee.
  • Select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Ensure required regulatory and internal performance metric reports are submitted accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Develop and oversee company EHS training for site employees.
  • Serve as point of contact with agency and governmental emergency personnel.
