About The Position

The Manager Senior - Oncology Support Services is responsible for assisting the oncology service line leader to identify and execute strategic initiatives for the oncology program, while directing daily cancer support functions of the Baptist Cancer Institute. This includes, but is not limited to, fulfilling the duties necessary to maintain the accreditation of our cancer program consistent with the standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, overseeing efforts to ensure constant readiness for survey accreditation, resolution of any survey deficiencies, as well as, maintaining the content of the CoC's Pre-Review Questionnaire (PRQ). He/she will manage Certified Tumor Registrars, in order to achieve cancer program compliance and maintenance of accurate data entry into our registry systems. This position strategically identifies and oversees all cancer related activities (screenings, prevention, education, and community outreach events), as well as, directs case management, financial assistance, nutrition, cancer research and Institutional Review Board activities of the cancer program with respective staff. This position oversees processes, metrics and daily functions of oncology nurse navigation in our health system through improved efficiencies and better care coordination to maximize optimal outcomes of care delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Health Care Administration, Nursing, Within three (3) years of employment Required
  • Five years of related experience maybe considered in lieu of degree Required
  • 4-6 years nursing experience preferably in oncology Required
  • 1-3 years leadership/management experience Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of negotiation, communication (verbal and written), conflict, interdisciplinary collaboration, management, creative problem solving, and critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of healthcare financing, community and organizational resources, patient care processes, and data analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrates flexibility via an ability to adapt to changing priorities and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a primary ACS Commission on Cancer accreditation resource to ensure compliance with the necessary standards set forth by the CoC, thus keeping BHC prepared for routine accreditation surveys.
  • Responsible for overseeing the implementation and execution of subcommittees within the Baptist Cancer Institute by directing and collaborating with healthcare providers and professionals to support all standards and guidelines set forth by any Oncology accrediting agencies.
  • Assists to provide highest quality outcomes and assurance measures of the Baptist Cancer Institute.
  • Oversees all Cancer Support Services related to cancer screening, prevention, early detection, recall management, education and outreach activities.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Cancer Registry.
  • Responsible for oversight of the Clinical Quality Coordinator/Cancer Research Nurse of Cancer Support Services.
  • Identifies financial supportive programs and processes that can mutually benefit patients and the Baptist Cancer Institute.
  • Provides oversight and guidance with cancer support services related to psychosocial care and education.
  • Fosters service leadership characteristics, consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the Baptist Cancer Institute.
  • Manages human resources to assure quality services and promote positive team member relations.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.
