About The Position

This position will help lead the Security Operations Center (SOC), including real-time threat intelligence, the fusion center, and radio/telephone security dispatch operations. The Manager, Security Technology & Operations is a member of Mayo Clinic’s Security leadership team. The role involves assisting the Director in establishing strategic direction, overseeing the design and maintenance of leading practice security technology processes, tools, and analytics. The position supervises a team, managing workload, approving scope and objectives, removing roadblocks, and providing meaningful assignments to foster staff satisfaction and retention. The Manager will drive the standardization of security technology and tools across the enterprise to enable centralized monitoring, reporting, analytics, mobility, workflow, and training. This will be achieved through managing a team focused on delivering enterprise security technology solutions and controls, functional requirements, and implementation strategies and processes. The position is responsible for collaborating with peers and partners to advance the enterprise security model, encompassing Intelligence, Data, Policies, Standards, Procedures, Communications, Training, and Education. The Manager is accountable for identifying and understanding security and IT-based solution implications across multiple Mayo Clinic business areas. The role serves as a strategic resource, providing awareness of internal and external environmental issues and trends through continuous review and growth of knowledge in healthcare security, technologies, regulations, business practices, security frameworks, best practices, reporting methods, and the enterprise's business strategy, critical assets, changing technology, and security risks/controls. The Manager develops operational protocols, plans, processes, and metrics for efficient operation of designated security services. They work with crisis/incident management teams to develop strategies, plans, and processes for preparation and response to brand/reputational issues, continuity events, emergencies, and disasters. The Manager is responsible for providing updates to various groups and representing Security on workgroups, taskforces, or committees as requested by the Director. They assist the Director with department management and administrative duties, and strategically assess communication effectiveness within the department, suggesting improvements. Requirements

  • Must be security clearance eligible.
  • A Bachelors or Master's Degree in Security Management, Business Management, Organizational Management, Risk Management, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience (8 years with relevant Masters' Degree) in one or more of the following areas: Physical Security, Information Technology, Security Systems Information Technology, Project Management, Business or Security Informatics, Security Architecture/Design Strategy, System Analysis and Implementation, or related functions.
  • Minimum of three years of direct supervisory or management experience, with demonstrated ability to build an effective, cohesive and collaborative team.
  • Effective in leading, developing, motivating, and coaching a diverse team of security and technology professionals.
  • Certified Protection Professional, Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator, or Physical Security Professional or equivalent, or will obtain certification within two years of hire.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in data entry and retrieval.
  • Advanced professional and culturally astute communication skills (both written and verbal) are required including ability to generate and deliver executive-level presentations.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels of the organization, including proven ability to confidently lead discussion and negotiate on high risk and high pressure issues while simultaneously building credibility & rapport.
  • Demonstrated ability to tolerate and deal effectively with ambiguous situations and the varying political/cultural environments within the institution, department, divisions.
  • Proven ability to offer guidance on business processes, technology capability and vulnerability assessments, and control enhancements or mitigation approaches.
  • Solid knowledge of security concepts and trends, project management methodologies, and relevant healthcare security regulatory requirements.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in associated field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of business process within a healthcare institution preferred.
