Overall Scope: This position reports to the DFS North America Regional Controller and is responsible for the integrity of revenue accounting, related financial reporting, and key elements of the control environment across the Americas. This role will lead the timely and accurate accounting for revenue in compliance with US GAAP, with particular emphasis on ASC 606, commercial contract review, order-to-cash processes, internal controls, reserves, and related close and reporting activities. This role will also support the accounting and financial statement impact of certain tax-related items — including indirect taxes, tax-related accruals, and income tax provision entries prepared by the tax function — ensuring complete and accurate recording in the general ledger and related account reconciliations. This role will have 2-3 direct reports. We are seeking a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting expertise, operational finance insight, and a proven ability to build scalable, well-controlled processes across a multi-entity, fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong ethics, sound judgment, a bias for action, and the ability to work seamlessly across functions, countries, and cultures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required; MBA or Master of Accounting preferred.
  • CPA strongly preferred; CMA a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, and technical accounting, with specific expertise in revenue recognition under ASC 606.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated leadership in revenue accounting, close/reporting, and process improvement.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting customer contracts and assessing accounting implications of commercial terms.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations for tax-related balances, including support for indirect tax accounting and income tax provision in partnership with the tax function, preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing or other product-based environments preferred, including exposure to distributor/channel models, rebates, returns, and other variable consideration arrangements.
  • Public accounting and/or industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle or other modern ERP systems; OneStream or other modern EPM/consolidation tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional partnering skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the regional finance leader for revenue accounting matters across North America, ensuring revenue recognition is accurate, complete, and compliant with US GAAP and company policy.
  • Lead and oversee accounting for customer arrangements, including analysis of contracts, customer deposits and prepayments, pricing structures, rebates, variable consideration, distributor programs, contract modifications, returns, and other commercial terms impacting revenue recognition.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and related internal accounting policies, including preparation and review of technical accounting positions and conclusions for non-standard or complex transactions.
  • Partner closely with commercial, legal, operations, tax, shared services, and site finance teams to evaluate the accounting implications of sales arrangements and support sound business decision-making.
  • Own or coordinate key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close related to revenue, including journal entries, account reconciliations, analytics, reserves, and disclosure support.
  • Support the accounting for tax-related balances impacting the financial statements, including coordination with the tax team on sales and use tax, VAT/GST where applicable, tax-related accruals, and income tax provision entries, ensuring amounts are accurately recorded, reconciled, and presented in the general ledger in accordance with company policy and US GAAP.
  • Review revenue-related reporting for North American entities in collaboration with North America Controller and regional finance leaders.
  • Strengthen and standardize order-to-cash processes and controls, including billing, collections, credit, claims, deductions, rebates, returns, and other revenue-related workflows.
  • Help ensure appropriate accounting treatment and balance sheet classification for indirect tax and other tax-related accounts connected to customer transactions, including coordination of reconciliations, issue resolution, and close support with tax and shared services teams.
  • Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment over revenue, accounts receivable, contract assets/liabilities, reserves, and related financial statement accounts, including relevant controls over tax-sensitive transaction flows and tax-related journal entries recorded by accounting.
  • Develop and drive a regional audit and review program focused on revenue processes, balance sheet integrity, and control remediation/improvement.
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing documentation, coordinating walkthroughs, and resolving revenue accounting and tax-accounting-related control questions in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with DFS and Dover requirements, including monthly reporting, quarterly reporting, year-end close, and other corporate deliverables.
  • Provide technical support and coaching to regional and site finance teams to ensure consistent interpretation and application of revenue accounting policies.
  • Act as a key liaison between DFS and Dover Business Services to improve global process performance in Accounts Receivable, credit and collection, billing, and General Ledger activities that affect revenue accuracy, tax-related account integrity, and cash conversion.
  • Drive continuous improvement in management reporting, revenue analytics, and systems/process automation, including support for OneStream EPM and ERP optimization initiatives.
  • Source and implement best practices across DFS and Dover to standardize accounting policies and operational processes related to commercial transactions and revenue recognition.
  • Support M&A activity, integration efforts, and compliance initiatives by assessing revenue accounting implications, aligning policies, and supporting post-close reporting readiness, including consideration of tax-related accounting impacts in coordination with the tax function.
  • Partner with tax and business planning teams where needed on the revenue implications of legal entity structures, intercompany arrangements, regional business models, and the related accounting entries and financial statement impacts.
  • Assist with special projects, Kaizen events, process simplification initiatives, and other DFS or corporate projects as requested.
