About The Position

The New Store Opening & Retail Visual Merchandising Manager leads the planning, coordination, and execution of new store openings while driving merchandising flow initiatives that support efficient, consistent retail execution. The role ensures operational readiness, strong visual merchandising, and seamless product flow across new stores, relocations, remodels, and seasonal transitions. The Manager will oversee mock store operations, seasonal floor sets, window updates and merchandising processes while serving as a key liaison between home office, field teams, and cross-functional partners. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented leader with strong project management skills and retail experience who can successfully manage multiple initiatives while ensuring alignment with brand standards and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience coordinating store openings, floor sets, merchandising flow, or retail operations initiatives
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience working cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, operations, and store teams
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills
  • Ability to travel as needed to support store openings and key initiatives
  • Experience supporting mock store operations or merchandising execution tools
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring team members
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to calculate and monitor costs and provide accurate estimates to assure that budgetary constraints and quality expectations are met
  • Ability to read and comprehend floor plans and work with our store designers
  • 5–8+ years of experience in retail operations, visual merchandising, merchandising operations, or new store openings
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop and InDesign
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative and a strong sense of ownership and urgency

Responsibilities

  • NEW STORE OPENING EXECUTION Responsible for end-to-end coordination and execution of new store openings, relocations, remodels, and expansions.
  • Develop and maintain detailed timelines, checklists, and execution plans to ensure store readiness and on-time openings.
  • Coordinate visual merchandising setup, product placement, fixture readiness, and operational needs for all new store initiatives.
  • Partner with Global teams to support international store opening preparation and execution.
  • Support budget tracking, resource coordination, and vendor communication related to store opening initiatives.
  • Conduct post-opening reviews to identify opportunities to improve processes and execution.
  • Coach and lead a Domestic New Store Opening Merchandiser, overseeing projects and career growth development.
  • Review and approve all communication, distros, and artwork.
  • Communicate all new store opening plans to New Store Opening Field Team and DSMs.
  • RETAIL VISUAL MERCHANDISING EXECUTION Manage operational processes supporting merchandising flow, including seasonal floor sets, product launches, window updates and in-store transitions.
  • Oversee home office mock store set-up and seasonal merchandising execution to validate floor sets and support field implementation.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Planning, and Allocation teams to align product assortment, delivery timing, and merchandising plans.
  • Maintain and manage the Visual Merchandising six month rolling calendar to ensure timely execution of floor sets and key initiatives.
  • Coordinate sample management, organization, and preparation to support merchandising execution and visual tools.
  • Ensure product flow, stockroom organization, and merchandising execution align with brand and operational standards.
  • Coordinate communication, tools, and execution directives to ensure clarity and consistency across store teams.
  • Support development and maintenance of operational tools, guidelines, and execution resources.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards, visual guidelines, and operational processes.
  • Audit stores for compliance with visual merchandising and operational standards through store visits, photo reviews, and field feedback.
  • Assist in the development and management of visual merchandising standard + training topics, quarterly updates, tools + training for global partners to ensure brand integrity.
  • Coach and lead a Domestic Visual Merchandiser, overseeing projects and career growth development.
  • Review and approve all communication, distros, and artwork.
  • Foster strong team collaboration and accountability across projects and initiatives.
  • Create and coordinate corporate communication and promotion policy of the brand to global offices and field teams.
  • Travel to Skechers retail stores to ensure execution and provide written reports and recaps.
  • Travel to competitor stores to research new and innovative ways to improve our business.
  • Provide written reports.
