About The Position

This position is responsible for managing and operating a Goodwill Retail store to fulfill Goodwill's mission statement. The role involves supervising staff, overseeing store operations, managing inventory, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining the store's appearance and safety. The manager also plays a key role in supporting individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment.

Requirements

  • High school education, two years of college or the equivalent.
  • Three to five years upper management experience.
  • Full knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting to maintain sales records and reports incidental to store operations.
  • Excellent character references and a well-developed sense of responsibility.
  • A valid driver's license and insurability.
  • Must have a telephone and maintain it in operating order.
  • Must pass/complete background check.
  • Must be bondable.

  • Completes employee work schedules, evaluations, ADP and handles customer complaints.
  • Oversee store operations including inventory, warehouse and stock rotation.
  • Performs all administrative and clerical details associated with store operation and orders supplies as needed.
  • Provides supervision for all associates, trains employees and follows cash handling procedures.
  • Must be able to work Saturday and Sunday.
  • When working with monies, safe and monies must be locked up at all times.
  • Support mission statement and activities of other departments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Represents Goodwill in the area served, striving to enhance the Goodwill image through individual and group participation.
  • Must work at least two nights per week.

  • Must approve all hours worked and enter vacation, sick leave etc. in a timely manner for the employees at my location.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate a Goodwill Retail store.
  • Fulfill Goodwill's mission statement.
  • Supervise workers in various personnel groups engaged in operating a retail store.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to store personnel.
  • Oversee store operations including inventory, warehouse, and stock rotation.
  • Perform administrative and clerical details associated with store operation.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Provide supervision for all associates, train employees, and follow cash handling procedures.
  • Complete employee work schedules, evaluations, and handle customer complaints.
  • Maintain store premises and grounds in a clean, neat condition.
  • Report needed repairs and recommend replacements.
  • Hold fire drills and instruct workers in fire prevention and safety practices.
  • Supervise the sales force and processing areas.
  • Sell merchandise as time permits and attend to customer needs.
  • Handle customer complaints in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Promote special events.
  • Keep new merchandise area stocked, inventoried, and marked.
  • Check condition and placement of stock in a clean, neat, and orderly condition.
  • Rotate stock and mark down prices in accordance with store procedure.
  • Suggest and maintain displays and prepare and place signs in sales areas and windows.
  • Train and supervise store personnel in sales techniques.
  • Hold monthly sales meetings and assemblies for training, morale, and organizational information.
  • Prepare stock requests, order forms, bags, and other supplies.
  • Handle cash as directed by current procedures.
  • Safeguard the premises and material under care at all times.
  • Seek to reduce the possibility of pilferage or burglary.
  • Watch for fire hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain records of store operations as required.
  • Review and analyze sales to determine effectiveness of methods and adequacy of prices.
  • Make recommendations to District Manager and Vice President of Operations/Sales.
  • Count all monies of deposits for store operations.
  • Make bank deposits daily with own transportation.
  • Greet customers.
  • Ensure safe and secure storage of monies.
  • Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and report violations.
  • Support mission statement and activities of other departments.
  • Represent Goodwill in the area served, striving to enhance the Goodwill image.
  • May supervise solicitors and pick-up orders, including routing as authorized.
  • Responsible for safety and well-being of all employees and clients.
  • Approve all hours worked and enter vacation, sick leave, etc., for employees at the location.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Keep District Manager and Vice President of Operations informed of significant events.
  • Recommend changes in policies and procedures based on store operations.
  • Be sensitive to management requests and adhere to deadlines and due dates.
