Provides leadership to staff of Respiratory Care in WB and FM campuses. Directly involved in the supervision of staff and plays an integral role in Respiratory Care operations, including but not limited to hiring, disciplinary action, discharging, scheduling, assigning work, and recognition. May perform tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapists. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment. Plans and implements respiratory budgets, has 24-hour accountability, monitors productivity reports and collaborates with other leaders to facilitate favorable financial performance. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory standards and evidence-based practices for specified units' scope of care and ensures compliance. Supervises staff in the units and plays an integral role in departmental operations, including but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, promoting, discharging, assigning work, evaluating, rewarding, and disciplining. Actively supports and participates in shared governance.
