Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as a utility engineer.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisor experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electric utility relay protection and associated NERC compliance.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Possesses sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain personal organization as well as organization of a large team with dynamic and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages workflow by scheduling work, providing work direction, setting goals and objectives to Relay Design, and other engineers and technicians.
  • Coaches, mentors, trains, develops, motivates and supervises staff; assigns, reviews work and appraises employees.
  • Leads engineering effort on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of protection and control standards.
  • Leads engineering effort on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of system protection tools and processes, including NERC compliance activities.
  • Represents Relay Design to external stakeholders in meetings and committees.
  • Represents company at industry committees and forums regarding technical and industry compliance matters.
  • Stays current on present and future compliance standards.
