Contributes to the overall success of the Regulatory Reporting, Global Finance in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensure all activities conducted are in-compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. In this role, the individual will champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing assigned returns for the Bank and its subsidiaries, providing effective governance including accurate and timely filing of financial reports with various regulators, and analyzing reports with large data sets to identify patterns, trends, and insights. The role involves working with cross-functional teams to document business rational for variances, proactively resolving problems, and providing explanations to Senior Managers. Additionally, the individual will interpret and implement new reporting requirements, manage system and procedural changes, and prepare process documentation. Collaboration with internal control testing teams and internal audit is expected, as is coaching and mentoring team members. The role also involves participating in accounting and other initiatives impacting financial regulatory filings, embracing and driving change, and managing ad-hoc projects. Understanding and applying the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture, and ensuring effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles are also key aspects of the position.
