About The Position

The Manager Regulatory Affairs manages organizational compliance and audit readiness to ensure Capital Health meets all standards set by external agencies, including but not limited to DNV, ISO-9001, CMS, OSHA, DEP and the Department of Health. This role identifies compliance gaps, builds corrective action plans and manages the data required for official submissions. The Manager Regulatory Affairs also leads all inspection activities, guiding teams through both announced and unannounced on-site surveys, and partners with departments to develop plans for achieving program specific certifications and accreditations. Additionally, the role oversees critical internal functions such as the PolicyStat system, the Patient Care Policy Committee and regulatory support for the Capital LIFE program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Four years of progressively responsible, directly related experience years of experience in healthcare regulatory affairs, quality improvement or acute care hospital operations.
  • Direct experience with Policystat and familiarity with the submission of New Jersey Department of Health Novi-Surveys preferred.
  • Registered Nurse – NJ or Registered Nurse – NLC multi-state
  • Strong knowledge of DNV, ISO-9001, CMS and NJ/PA Departments of Health standards.
  • Proven ability to navigate and search compliance standards to provide practical guidance to clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality and performance improvement tools and techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for translating complex regulations into simple, clear instructions for staff and leaders.
  • Intermediate to expert level skill in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with a strong ability to build and manage clear data tracking tools.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and support different teams without losing track of details.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound independent judgment and maintain strict discretion when handling sensitive compliance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily and long-term organizational and/or department activities to ensure Capital Health is continually prepared for regulatory surveys and inspections by external agencies, including DNV, ISO-9001, CMS, OSHA, DEP and NJ/PA Departments of Health.
  • Plans and manages both announced and unannounced on-site surveys, acting as the primary coordinator to ensure smooth operations and direct cooperation with surveyors.
  • Coordinates regular internal tracer activities and mock surveys, to identify hidden compliance risks and provide real-time coaching to staff and leaders.
  • Guides the development of clear, accurate responses to external audit citations and non-conformities, partnering with department managers to execute timely responses.
  • Oversees the collection, verification and formal submission of regulatory data, including state Novi-Surveys.
  • Collaborates across various departments to build practical tracking mechanisms that measure everyday regulatory compliance and proactively identify potential gaps.
  • Partners with leaders to secure successful healthcare accreditations, certifications, and formal renewals.
  • Monitors changing healthcare regulations and explain updates in simple, practical terms so teams can easily adopt them into daily workflows.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments such as Corporate Compliance, Legal, Risk Management, Quality and Patient Safety and Patient Services to protect Capital Health and advance organizational goals.
  • Delivers hands-on regulatory guidance and compliance support to the Capital LIFE program as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
