As part of our Aecon Utilities sector, Aecon Telecommunications (Telecom) works with major providers across North America to assist with turnkey fiber installation, 5G network expansions and servicing legacy networks. Aecon Telecom is seeking a Project Manager to lead the successful execution of construction projects by establishing and maintaining project budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and infrastructure while ensuring all contractual, safety, quality, and reporting requirements are met. They oversee procurement, negotiate contracts, manage risks and issues, and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities. The role also involves guiding cross ‑ functional teams, driving commercial performance, supporting business development activities, and demonstrating sound judgment to resolve complex project challenges. This role includes travel expectations primarily within New Mexico, with occasional national travel required based on evolving business needs.

Requirements

• Education to include a four-year engineering degree, technical college. diploma or combination of technical training and/or related experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Coordinator/Project Manager role.
• Experience in the Utility Contracting Industry.
• Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to resolve project disputes with minimal assistance.
• Ability to Inspire and foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers.
• Availability to travel between all Utilities yards.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and MS Project
• Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, accurately and under pressure.
• Must hold a valid US driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the financial performance of a designated region.
• Management of financial performance to ensure business plans targets are being met.
• Reports issues to Operations Manager regarding financial performance, workload status, potential legal issues, and potential opportunities.
• Resolves project-level legal disputes and escalates issues to Operations Manager.
• Puts in place a management team with clearly defined responsibilities covering all aspects of the operation.
• Prepares staff development and succession plans for key positions in the department.
• Approves all expenditures and proposal pricing within limits of authority.
• Maintains personal contact with major clients and unions.
• Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
• Supervises Superintendents and all the crews in the designated region.
• Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
