About The Position

Ulteig is seeking a highly engaged and qualified candidate for the Manager – Project Management position within the Power Lifeline Sector. This role is responsible for leading a team of project management supervisors, project managers, and project coordinators. The focus will be on fostering on-the-job leadership development, encouraging team growth, and overseeing the execution of project and/or construction management solutions for transmission and substation power delivery projects. Key duties include management and development of supervisors and team members, client and internal business partner coordination, business development activities, resource coordination, hiring, and management of team financial targets and goals. This individual will report to the Associate Director of the Project Management department within Ulteig’s Power LLS leadership team. The Manager - Project Management is expected to be a self-starting leader focused on project and team success, people development, and project delivery excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of project experience, with significant experience in managing engineering projects.
  • Technical engineering knowledge, with the ability to understand and coordinate solutions for complex engineering challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams, including project and program managers, engineering, operations, and subconsultants.
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, staff, and leadership.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Office applications and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Planview Adaptive Work), with advanced understanding and experience of scheduling and cost planning.
  • Ability to travel (25%) to engage with team members, clients, and/or for team, department, or company level events.
  • Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Power industry experience highly preferred.
  • PE, PMP, CCM or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and developing other Project Management Professionals preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture that supports retention, connectivity, and engagement.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff through training, career development discussions and growth opportunities.
  • Provide direction and leadership to Project Management Supervisors, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators in alignment with department and organizational performance goals.
  • Monitor and approve team budgets, including revenue, profitability, and indirect expenses (training, recognition, events, etc.).
  • Oversee workforce planning and resource forecasting across your team to ensure proper staffing alignment with business needs.
  • Lead regular team and 1:1 meetings, quarterly reviews, and performance evaluations, including merit, bonus, and promotion decisions.
  • Serve as the point of contact for escalating complex team issues, managing conflicts, and facilitating communication between team members.
  • Champion the use of Ulteig project management tools, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement by sharing and implementing lessons learned across teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Ulteig’s governance policies and procedures.
  • Support complex and large portfolio of programs as a senior leader of project execution.
  • Provide portfolio management oversight.
  • Manage our largest and most complex, multi-disciplinary projects from initiation through close-out including engineering, field services, procurement, and construction management scopes for the Power Lifeline Sector.
  • Coordinate matrixed execution teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activity at the right time to meet project schedules.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and problem-solving sessions, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards, contract requirements, and client expectations.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, including risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Apply strong contract strategy knowledge to align prime and client agreements for successful project delivery.
  • Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations to support project scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Invest in continuous improvement activities and initiatives for the department and company, driving effective and efficient project execution.
  • Collaborate with various functions across the organization in the effective implementation and execution of Project Management processes.
  • Creation and delivery of training tools, standard operating procedures, and process enhancements in collaboration with the Project Management Center of Excellence.
  • Drive digital transformation by promoting innovative tools, data-driven insights, and technology adoption to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the sales team to drive revenue growth, manage profitability, and expand services with current and prospective clients.
  • Support proposal efforts on contracts, work orders, MSAs, and NDAs in coordination with the Proposal Development Team and technical staff.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Represent Ulteig with professionalism and a customer-first mindset.
  • Demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, priority setting, and organizational skills in achieving results.
  • Pursue continuous improvement and self-development to maintain high levels of expertise, integrity, and commitment.
