About The Position

The USTA (United States Tennis Association) is seeking a Manager, Professional Pathway & Assigning to manage the national approach to the assignment of Officials for USTA Pro Circuit and ITF World Tennis Tour events. This role will lead the launch and continued success of a national OfficialsFirst assigning initiative to better support providers and officials, ensure officials are evaluated and assigned based on a best-in-class system, and develop officials to support the organization’s growing need at higher-level events across the country.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Exceptional interpersonal qualities, strong service orientation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a "whatever it takes“ attitude to get the job done.
  • Demonstrates experience in scheduling, logistics, and program coordination
  • Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong presentation skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate ideas with passion.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, and Access and willing to do administrative work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Officiating assignments of the USTA Pro Circuit and ITF World Tennis Tour, and event administrative duties pertaining to Pro Circuit Officiating.
  • Manage scheduling, availability, and real time assignment changes to support all managed events.
  • Ensure that the minimum Officiating standards are met for all USTA Pro Circuit and ITF World Tennis Tour events.
  • In collaboration with the Coordinator, Professional Pathway, oversee the contracting, payments, and Officials’ work records for all assigned events.
  • Define clear and transparent assessment criteria and processes for the assessment of tennis officials.
  • Develop, launch and maintain an accurate and fair plan for disseminating assessment to officials.
  • Ensure officials across all disciplines progress through the officiating pathway by championing a meritorious assignment process.
  • Support the Director, Professional Pathway with identifying and implementing development plans for Chair Umpires and Referees to gain experience to obtain ITF certifications.
  • Support the Director, Professional Pathway in maintaining relationships with ATP and WTA Officiating bodies to aid in the development and assignment of USTA Officials at high level events.
  • Support the Director, Professional Pathway with the Officiating Center of Excellence by administering development plans for select COE participants to get them through the development pathway.
  • In collaboration with the Officiating Growth Managers and Director, Community Pathway, develop a strategic plan to recruit new diverse Officials for the Professional Pathway.
  • Create, in collaboration with the education and training team, continuous learning opportunities for all Officials servicing the USTA Pro Circuit.
  • Manage the OfficialsFirst event management rollout to stakeholders nationwide.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to stakeholders to support Competitive Pathway events across the country.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment with Section competition directors.
  • Manage the continued development of the OfficialsFirst platform to ensure stakeholder satisfaction through collaboration with IT and digital teams.
  • Collaborate with Section stakeholders regarding system training for Section staff, Officials, and Tournament Directors.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations, gather feedback, and be able to translate feedback into actionable plans.
  • Identify and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
