About The Position

The Manager - Production - Die Casting is responsible for providing leadership to a manufacturing department, including group leaders, team leaders, and technicians. This role involves developing an annual operating plan, managing capital and expense budgets, and ensuring accountability to financial commitments. The position leads improvement activities focused on quality, delivery, cost, and safety, and identifies training and development needs for team members. It supports continuous improvement through Kaizen and positive change, upholds company policy, and facilitates communication for expectation setting and problem resolution. Efficiency is maintained through lean manufacturing principles, human resource planning, and flexibility. This position is responsible for supervising department employees in accordance with policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment and software.
  • General understanding of mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams.
  • Understanding of quality assurance system.
  • General understanding of cutting tools and material (machining).
  • General understanding of production control in mass-production manufacturing.
  • Solid problem solving skills using a variety of statistical and root cause tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with lean production concepts and tools.
  • Positive attitude to support company policies.
  • Flexibility with new ideas and different environments.
  • Motivational and supervisory skills in large group.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Highly motivated and high energy level.
  • Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
  • B.S. in Engineering and/or 6 or more years experience in mass-production manufacturing.

  • Supervisory experience for 3 years or more preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan capital and expense budget requirements.
  • Be accountable to operating plan and financial commitments.
  • Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost and safety objectives.
  • Identify training and development needs for department team members.
  • Support continuous improvement through Kaizen and leading positive change.
  • Support company policy and administer fairly and consistently.
  • Facilitate good communications with leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolution.
  • Maintain efficiency through lean manufacturing principles, human resource planning, and flexibility.
  • Supervise department employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
