The position requires strong communication, leadership by example, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to develop associates. The Manager will lead an Assembly team to achieve business objectives including safety, quality, continuous improvement, production, profitability, and customer service, consistent with lean principles. They will support all aspects of production processes, drive the implementation of Scout’s Production System, and lead assembly from the development phase through SOP on New Models. The role involves driving problem-solving activities, reviewing daily KPIs, leading root cause analysis, supporting change management, ensuring audit compliance, managing lean projects, and driving launch activities, cost improvements, and quality/product safety initiatives. The Manager will also monitor launch curve attainment, eliminate waste, and promote teamwork in a positive work environment. The ability to work any shift and support overtime is necessary, along with excellent interpersonal skills to interface with various levels of employees and management. Building effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers, and leading a diverse workforce are key. A strong working knowledge of Body-In-White, Paint, Assembly Operations, Logistics, and Maintenance is required, as is knowledge of various process systems, quality systems, throughput, standardization, and product/process launch.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive assembly, Finish (End of Line) with maintenance responsibilities, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering in automotive technology, Manufacturing, or related field. An equivalent amount of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Wheel Alignment, Roll Booth, Water test, ASAS commissioning.
  • Strong understanding of continuous improvement systems, such as TPS, VPS, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong understanding of pre-series builds, Finish (End of Line), and the automotive production process.
  • Hands on experience with assembly tools, jigs and fixtures in manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in managing maintenance teams and coordinating repair activities.
  • Great Verbal and non-verbal communicator, listener, lead by example, outside the box thinker, Self-motivated, TEAM first, be able to develop associates and oneself.
  • BE able to collaborate with other departments and areas to include, maintenance, quality, industrial engineers, programmers etc.
  • A strong working knowledge of Body-In-White, Paint, Assembly Operations, Logistics and Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of various process systems, quality systems, throughput, standardization, and product/process launch.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an Assembly team to achieve all business objectives including safety, quality, continuous improvement, production, profitability, customer service, and other internal metrics, consistent with the lean principles.
  • Supports all aspects of production processes including safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale and drives successful implementation of Scout’s Production System processes and standards.
  • Help lead assembly from development phase though SOP on New Models
  • Help lead designated areas from BBG through SOP on New Models.
  • Drive Problem Solving activities and innovation in area with support from Management.
  • Review daily KPI’s, lead root cause analysis on issues in area with support of Process Lead, Industrial Engineer, and Quality Engineer.
  • Support with change management initiatives in the section, drive workforce engagement, and provide coaching and feedback to all employees.
  • Ensure compliance in all audit initiatives and all areas of the operations.
  • Manage resources to support project completion of lean projects.
  • Drive launch and mid-cycle action activities, cost improvements, and raising the bar on quality and product safety.
  • Monitor launch curve attainment for new programs and establish PDCA as needed.
  • Lead the elimination of waste in all aspects of the business.
  • Motivate, cultivate, and promote teamwork and problem solving in a positive, proactive work environment.
  • Ability to work any shift and support overtime based on the business requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees and management within all areas of the Plant.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers.
