About The Position

The RePower Program is designed for experienced professionals who have taken a career break of two or more years. This six-month, paid opportunity with benefits supports participants with meaningful project work, dedicated mentoring, training, and professional development to help them transition back into the workforce. This specific role is for a Team Leader position for the Design, Drafting, and Change Release team, which supports Fuel Systems Engineering, Fuel Systems Manufacturing, Electronics and Software Engineering, and Valvetrain Technologies. The Columbus PDD team consists of 13 hourly OCU members involved in Drafting, Change Release, or Systems Integration support.

Requirements

  • At least five years of prior work experience.
  • A career break of two or more years.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area.
  • Demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Change Request Throughput by identifying bottlenecks, negotiating priorities, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Strengthen Global Workflow Integration by harmonizing processes and sharing best practices across global drafting and design teams.
  • Enhance Workload Visibility by building a data-driven view of open Change Requests for smarter scheduling and resource balancing.
  • Develop Technical Breadth by gaining working knowledge of key components like injectors, pumps, rails, sensors, ECMs, and brakes.
  • Apply Systems Thinking using interface awareness and integration principles to avoid downstream issues and improve product reliability.
  • Improve Documentation Quality by raising the standard of technical documentation and release packages.
  • Support Product Development Discipline by understanding requirements flow-down, risk management, and verification/validation expectations.
  • Model Effective Decision-Making by demonstrating sound judgment under pressure, balancing schedule, quality, and resource constraints.
  • Lead and Support Your Team by building strong relationships, holding 1:1s, managing eTime approvals, and establishing trust.
  • Collaborate Across Global & Local Groups by partnering with teams in Columbus, Pune, and Wuhan, and working closely with Product Engineering and Program Leaders.
  • Navigate Systems & Processes Quickly by learning key tools like Windchill and eTime, understanding work scheduling, and ramping up on the VPI product development process.
  • Communicate & Coordinate with Confidence by aligning priorities, participating in meetings, and keeping work moving across multiple engineering functions.
  • Build strong working relationships with a team of 13 hourly OCU employees.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Global Product Design & Drafting leaders in Pune(India) and Wuhan, as well as Product Engineering and Program Leaders.
  • Participate in weekly CR meetings and Global Drafting Q&A sessions.
  • Manage weekly eTime approvals and corrections.
  • Gain proficiency in key systems such as Windchill.
  • Develop an understanding of component families, the VPI process, and work scheduling for open Change Requests.
