About The Position

The Manager, Category Procurement leads purchasing and supply management activities across assigned categories and subcategories for Abbott Diabetes Care. The role develops and executes global category strategies for engineered components, drives sourcing and cost-reduction initiatives, optimizes total cost of ownership, and strengthens supplier relationships. It partners with stakeholders across corporate and divisional organizations, functions, and regions to advance Abbott’s global procurement vision and support worldwide business objectives. The position also monitors market dynamics, identifies improvement opportunities, and leads, mentors, and develops procurement talent. This is an onsite position based in Alameda, California, with travel required 15% of the time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in direct material procurement, supply chain management, and/or category management.
• Deep knowledge of category technologies and products.
• Strong project management, communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of regional market dynamics and procurement processes.
• Experience in supplier management, team leadership, and international environments.
• Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree; MBA preferred.
• CPSM, CPM, or similar certification.
• PMP or similar certification.
• Functional experience supporting procurement or related business functions.
