About The Position

The Manager, Category Procurement leads purchasing and supply management activities across assigned categories and subcategories within Abbott Diabetes Care. The role advances Abbott’s global procurement vision by partnering with corporate and divisional stakeholders, developing sourcing and cost-reduction strategies, optimizing total cost of ownership, strengthening supplier relationships, and leading category initiatives that support worldwide business objectives.

Based onsite in Alameda, California, the position focuses on the engineered component category and supports innovation, supply continuity, and cost competitiveness across Abbott Diabetes Care’s portfolio.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in direct material procurement, supply chain management, and/or category management.
• Deep knowledge of category technologies and products.
• Strong project management, communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
• Knowledge of regional market dynamics and procurement processes.
• Experience in supplier management, team leadership, and international environments.
• Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree; MBA preferred.
• CPSM, CPM, or similar certification.
• PMP or similar certification.
• Functional experience supporting procurement or related business functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute global category procurement strategies for the engineered component category.
• Lead sourcing, supplier management, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders across divisions, functions, and regions.
• Monitor market dynamics and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Lead, mentor, and develop procurement talent.
