About The Position

The World Bank Group (WBG) is seeking a Manager for Procurement Operations & Advisory within the Corporate Procurement department. This role is responsible for all operational and advisory functions, including the Corporate Procurement Service Desk, Order Management, Vendor Management, governance monitoring, systems support and administration, and regional procurement advisory. The position manages a global team of 35 staff located in HQ, Global Business Centers (GBC), and across seven WBG regions. The WBG Budget and Procurement (WBP) department is structured into five departments, and this role is within the WBP Corporate Procurement (WBPCP) department, which provides group-wide procurement services. The position offers an opportunity to evolve the management structure of WBPCP in line with strategic priorities and the WBP global footprint strategy. The role involves business management, talent management, and budget management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant field/discipline (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Law, etc.).
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in procurement.
  • Strong track record of success in leading and managing complex procurement operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the teams providing planning, budgeting, and performance reporting services.
  • Conduct analytical work and provide advisory services in areas of focus (e.g., operations, investments in technology).
  • Provide other services as needed over time.
  • Actively participate in the WBP Leadership Team and cross-cutting activities.
  • Take on leadership roles in WBP-wide activities, such as recruitment and other HR initiatives.
  • Provide support and advice to the Vice President and the Director of WBP, Corporate Procurement as requested.
  • Manage the unit staff, including recruitment, evaluation, and career development of staff.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff to build sustainable finance skills and capacity to effectively deliver WBP services.
  • Manage and oversee the engagement and evaluation of technical consultants within the WBPCP unit, as needed.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the unit’s resources, ensuring its effective formulation and input into budget decisions.
  • Advocate and drive cost-effective delivery of business finance services, promoting transparency, simplicity, standardization, and automation.
