About The Position

The Procurement Manager is responsible for supporting category managers, supplier management, contract coordination, category support, and procurement process improvements for assigned areas of spending. This position partners with business units, plants, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to support sourcing strategies based on business needs, deliver cost savings, improve supplier performance, reduce risk, support business continuity, and strengthen spend confidence by helping ensure the company is paying the right price, buying from the right supplier, and purchasing the right product for plant and business needs. The role also identifies opportunities to improve procurement processes through reporting enhancements, workflow automation, AI functionality, and data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of related experience; purchasing or procurement experience preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with SAP, Fresh Meats system, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, database tools, reporting capabilities, and the ability to leverage AI functionality or automation tools to improve procurement workflows, data analysis, and process efficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, influence stakeholders, support cross-functional teams, and build productive supplier relationships.
  • Strategic planning, project management, prioritization, problem solving, negotiation, critical thinking, business acumen, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage confidential information, handle challenging business situations, provide strong customer service, and travel approximately one to five domestic trips per year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist category managers with sourcing activities by gathering plant and business requirements, supporting supplier evaluations, providing data analysis, and helping prepare recommendations based on business needs.
  • Manage supplier relationships and maintain ongoing communication regarding company policies, procedures, expectations, and performance.
  • Drive supplier cost savings initiatives and monitor supplier performance through scorecards, metrics, and other measurement tools.
  • Partner with category managers, business units, plant stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support purchasing programs, sourcing strategies, and category plans based on the needs of the business.
  • Analyze assigned categories using internal tools, reports, and market data to identify risks, savings opportunities, and performance trends.
  • Support spend confidence by reviewing purchasing activity, supplier alignment, product selection, pricing accuracy, and contract compliance to help ensure the business is paying the right price, buying from the right supplier, and purchasing the right product.
  • Communicate procurement program initiatives, supplier changes, consolidations, and process updates to company facilities and stakeholders.
  • Identify, evaluate, and support process improvement opportunities using AI functionality, automation tools, reporting enhancements, and workflow redesign to reduce manual effort, improve data visibility, and strengthen procurement decision-making.
