About The Position

As the Manager of the Process Engineering team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Hazelett’s technology as a key member of Hazelett’s leadership group. In this role, you will lead a talented team responsible for supporting customer operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives, developing technical solutions, and supporting the successful execution of Hazelett projects. You will work closely with customers, sales, engineering, manufacturing, and management to identify opportunities for process improvements, product enhancements, and new business growth. We are looking for applicants with a strong mix of technical expertise, project management skills, and a passion for leading people. Requirements

  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, process improvement methodologies, troubleshooting techniques, and project execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team while fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, sales teams, engineering and manufacturing personnel, vendors, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to develop technical proposals, scopes of work, quotations, project schedules, and customer-facing documentation.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively across functional teams.
  • A minimum of a B.S. in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proven history of supervising or managing technical teams and supporting organizational objectives within a project or functional area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with metal processing, continuous casting, or related industrial equipment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support a team of Process Engineers, including conducting regular employee check-ins, supporting professional development, mentoring team members, and ensuring the team has the resources, training, and support needed to succeed.
  • Serve as a key technical resource for customers by addressing questions, resolving operational issues, supporting troubleshooting efforts, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Partner with the sales team to develop responses to customer inquiries, support requests for quotations, create technical sales verbiage, develop scopes of work and create project schedules and Gantt charts for field service activities.
  • Support Hazelett’s development initiatives by identifying opportunities for caster upgrades, process improvements, and operational enhancements that improve customer value and product performance.
  • Support the corrective action and escape management processes by investigating issues, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Maintain department planning tools, including travel planning schedules, develop and manage department budgets, track expenditures, and support strategic planning initiatives.
