About The Position

MSF USA, one of 24 global sections, supports this mission through staff recruitment, fundraising, advocacy, and communications. The Manager, Principal and Major Gifts Operations leads the operational systems, reporting, and process effectiveness for the Principal and Major Gifts team. This role is responsible for key operational initiatives aimed at enhancing data quality, prospect management, performance visibility, and daily team operations. The Manager collaborates with frontline fundraisers and cross-functional partners to develop and implement plans that boost efficiency, accountability, donor stewardship, and overall team effectiveness, ensuring gift officers have the necessary tools, processes, and information for successful donor portfolio management. Additionally, the Manager supervises operational support staff, develops team capabilities through training and documentation, and provides functional leadership for operational processes, standards, and cross-team initiatives. Partnerships with Data Analytics, Donor Services, Finance, and Integrated Channel Marketing teams are crucial for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in operations, data management, project management, fundraising operations, or related functions, preferably within a nonprofit, fundraising, or mission-driven organization.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and supporting employee performance, development, and accountability.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and optimizing CRM platforms and reporting tools, preferably Salesforce NPSP, Tableau, or comparable systems.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and operational initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational processes, reporting accuracy, workflow efficiency, and internal service delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex operational concepts to non-technical audiences and provide clear guidance to colleagues.
  • Commitment to Doctors Without Borders mission and values, with an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of working in a global humanitarian organization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the data and analytics reporting plan for Principal and Major Gifts, creating templates and standards for meaningful data reporting.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations derived from data analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement new business practices for Principal and Major Gifts Operations.
  • Develop and deliver operational change initiatives to improve efficiency, accountability, and team effectiveness.
  • Ensure the Principal and Major Gifts team maintains high-quality donor information.
  • Partner with Development Operations on prospect management discipline, data integrity, and reporting standards specific to major gifts.
  • Provide input into CRM enhancements to meet major gifts business needs.
  • Design and deliver training content and resources to address capability gaps within the Principal and Major Gifts team.
  • Deliver training to improve gift officer effectiveness and operational performance.
  • Deliver cross-functional projects and operational initiatives in partnership with Data Analytics, Donor Services, Finance, and Integrated Channel Marketing.
  • Coordinate resources, priorities, timelines, and dependencies to achieve business objectives for projects.
  • Supervise one staff member, the Principal and Major Gifts Associate.
