About The Position

Responsible for effectively applying the principles and practices of health planning and clinic management to manage, direct and coordinate the health services in their designated clinics to achieve health center/clinic goals, organization objectives, and population management improvements. Responsible for the operational planning process for the clinic to support Parkland Health's strategic and ambulatory initiatives. Responsible for effective financial management of assigned areas. Focuses on operational issues to facilitate patient flow processes and communicates with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, and members of the leadership team as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • With approval and sponsorship of the Chief Operating Officer, the experience requirements may be waived for a successful graduate of the Parkland-administered Administrative Fellowship Program.
  • Equivalent experience may substitute for education requirements.
  • Leadership & Talent Management skills.
  • Ability to manage professional-level employees and be responsible for their work and results.
  • Ability to coach, lead, and mentor emerging talent and develop internal talent.
  • Ability to plan and establish goals and objectives for a team of professional staff and/or one or more large teams of operational or functional staff.
  • Ability to contribute to tactical and operational, functional, and/or business plans with short-to mid-term impact.
  • May have budget accountability for areas of responsibility or manage budget elements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/ICARE values and behaviors.
  • Understands practical management approaches such as workflow management, quality review, coaching, and performance management.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of a specific discipline and broad knowledge of related job areas.
  • Must be a critical thinker, available to logically evaluate all aspects of situations and problems to arrive at optimal solutions.
  • Ability to influence outside of own department, while balancing internal, divergent objectives to gain the cooperation of other parties.
  • Ability to communicate to parties both within and outside of own department.
  • Ability to communicate and conduct briefings with immediate supervisor regarding ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Managing daily administrative, business, and clinical operations for the health center/clinic population.
  • Organizing personnel to participate in broader population activities.
  • Developing action plans with triage leadership to implement a targeted strategy that meets the needs of the service area population.
  • Enhancing patient satisfaction in health centers/clinics.
  • Assisting with patient complaints, guiding the situation toward resolution or directing/escalating to the proper resource for resolution.
  • Assisting with effective facility management to include co-locators and support services as measured by space planning, cleanliness, functioning of equipment, and overall environmental safety.
  • Assisting with the timely and effective maintenance of equipment and rooms to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Analyzing critical operations on an ongoing basis.
  • Providing weekly, monthly, and annual reports to evaluate and demonstrate practice performance.
  • Communicating results to Population Health administration.
  • Participating in the ongoing activity with the divisional performance improvements program.
  • Contributing to and establishing operational, functional, and business plans that have short to long-term impact on department and operating results.
  • Communicating with parties within and outside of own department or function, which may include external customers or vendors.
  • Participating in staff selection, assisting with training, motivating, and providing input in staff evaluation.
  • Monitoring employee satisfaction, turnover, employee initiatives, participation in quality improvement, and other activities to ensure the department and employee goals are obtained.
  • Ensuring the proper patient processing and billing functions are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory and billing requirements, including effective collection of insurance and patient receivables.
  • Ensuring practice productivity and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
