About The Position

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. The Point of Care Testing Manager will manage the operations of Point of Care Testing for Montefiore Medical Center. Manager a team of Supervisors who oversee all training of point of care testing. Maintain and monitor point of care testing with specific regard to regulatory and compliance guidelines, and in close collaboration with QA/QM department. Collaborate with IT to implement and or manage interfaces for POCT instrumentation and interfaces.

Requirements

  • BS Required; Masters Preferred
  • New York State Clinical Lab Technologist required
  • 4-6 years Medical technology and or laboratory services Required
  • Point of care testing instruments (Medium proficiency)
  • Knowledge of laboratory information systems (Medium proficiency)
  • Microsoft suite (Medium proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operations of the Point of Care Testing program throughout the Montefiore Health System to achieve departmental and institutional goals for the provision of quality patient care.
  • Manage and oversee daily work of the Point of Care Supervisors.
  • Hire, training, evaluate, discipline, and assess competencies for the Supervisors
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as CAP, Joint Commission, and NYSDOH.
  • Develop and maintain quality control tools and establish criteria for licensing and performance testing.
  • Implement new tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures at various Point of Care Testing locations.
  • Manage the Point of Care Testing Program budget and oversee use of supplies and other resources.
  • Develop and implement training programs for each Point of Care test.
  • Document and track personnel training and certification.
  • Coordinate with Montefiore IT to address technical issues and upgrades/updates related to Point of Care instruments and/or test performance.
  • Liaise with departments and participate on institutional committees.
  • Other related duties as assigned
