The Manager Plant Supply Chain will assume the primary role in developing departmental systems, procedures, and policies involving purchasing, production, and material control. This role interfaces with the Quality Department to ensure all systems remain in process. The position oversees production schedules, including material procurement and manufacturing schedules, monitors reports, and communicates with staff to ensure sufficient materials are available for production and that inbound raw materials and outbound shipping schedules are maintained. The Manager will develop supplier relationships to ensure a continuing source vendor, working with Corporate Purchasing as a resource for supplier information and meeting locally with supplier representatives. This role devises methods and policies ensuring the most efficient and economical movement of all materials in and out of the plant, following Quality procedures to effect change through procedures, work instructions, and training. Necessary actions will be taken to eliminate delays and ensure adherence to production and shipping schedules, creating workflow changes as necessary on an ongoing basis for prevention plans for timing issues. All changes will be communicated to staff members to ensure engagement and comprehension. The Manager directs the usage of material to produce the product, considering numerous variables, and assesses and anticipates material trends and usage based on initial information for new and ongoing programs. Systems and programs will be developed to ensure the effectiveness of the department within quality guidelines and formats. The position participates in annual budget forecasts and reports costs for material and labor within the Material Group to the Plant Manager as necessary. The Manager oversees prompt shipment schedules to ensure customer requirements are met using available resources/tools, developing assessments and metrics for ongoing performance. Future customer demand will be analyzed to identify manpower, tooling, and equipment needs. Physical inventories will be coordinated and entered in accordance with established processes. Significant inventory variance will be evaluated and reported, with root cause and corrective action identified for inventory discrepancies. The role is responsible for promoting a safe work environment and preventing injuries using 5S, job rotation, and ergonomic work practices. This includes safety auditing, tracking of audit closure, participating in incident reviews, writing or assisting in the 8D process, and aiding in corrective action closure. Communication of safety information and participation in safety meetings and activities are also required. The role requires understanding, applying, and meeting all function-related Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Product Safety, Compliance, and Information Security requirements, including confidentiality of YFAI information. The employee must comply with all company policies and procedures.
