About The Position

Join a dynamic, patient-centered cancer care team in beautiful Southern Louisiana. We are seeking a motivated, ABR-certified Medical Physicist to support the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy in a collaborative and quality-focused clinical environment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a close-knit community with access to world-class outdoor recreation. The successful candidate will contribute to the accurate and precise delivery of radiation therapy, assist in quality assurance efforts, and help maintain a strong radiation safety culture. You'll engage in a variety of responsibilities that support the safe operation of our department. You will provide management responsibilities for dosimetrists and physicists.

Requirements

  • ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics, required
  • Master’s, PhD, or DMP in Medical Physics or related field
  • Eligible for state licensure, if applicable
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel (up to 25%)
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Lafayette, Louisiana before starting.

Nice To Haves

  • 8-12 years of experience, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Experience with external beam therapy, HDR and LDR brachytherapy, and modern imaging modalities, preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with troubleshooting both hardware and software systems, preferred
  • Familiarity with 3D printing techniques and customized treatment device development, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate external beam therapy equipment to ensure accurate and consistent dose delivery.
  • Assist with treatment planning processes, including dose distributions and dosimetry measurements.
  • Design and develop patient treatment services (Therapy (IMRT) Image Guided Radiotherapy (IGRT), including surface-guided radiotherapy with VisionRT Brachytherapy (LDR and HDR) including Mammosite/ Contura Radiosurgery (SRS) and Sterotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT).
  • Assist with radiation safety programs, maintaining appropriate records, and ensuring compliance with NRC, JC, and state regulations.
  • Support the development and maintenance of departmental policies, QA programs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to optimize treatment plans and patient care.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and coordinate maintenance of treatment equipment and software systems to ensure consistent clinical performance.
  • Participate in evaluations of new technologies and contribute to equipment planning efforts.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the department.
  • Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, front line supervisors and/or business support staff.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals.
  • Ensures employees operate within guidelines.
