Oversees, monitors and reports on the physical security of Austal and its products and services as it relates to shipboard, perimeter, guard and communications security. Accomplishes work through subordinate security personnel and contractors. The Physical Security Manager shall report to the Director of Security and requires independent judgment and discretion, as well as the identification, analysis and resolution of security-related matters. They shall manage and oversee the implementation of comprehensive security systems for the protection of employees, business operations, facility infrastructure, and both government and commercial programs. This role involves analyzing data of internal operations and planning/directing the installation of electronic security systems such as closed-circuit surveillance, entry controls, intrusion alarms, and outdoor perimeter and microwave alarms. The manager will develop and manage shipboard security programs in liaison with ship construction program offices, assist and oversee compliance with all regulations and laws regarding the operation of the company under the foreign-owned parent, and ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) DoD5220-22M, client security directives, and the company’s Security Practices and Procedures. The role also serves as a liaison with U.S. government security counterparts and commercial partners, and requires limited travel for investigations, professional conferences, symposia, and job-related training. The position involves monitoring for changes and recommending improvements to comply with laws, rules, regulations, and policies, assisting in compliance risk assessments and reporting, developing and providing compliance training, and conducting compliance monitoring, surveillance, and auditing efforts, as well as assisting in investigations of suspected compliance violations. The Physical Security Manager acts as a Compliance Champion for the organization and supports the business unit Tier 1 Compliance Lead in responsibilities as required.
