About The Position

The Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is seeking a Manager, People Operations to join their dedicated and high-performing team. This permanent, full-time position offers an opportunity for an experienced HR leader passionate about people, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The role involves providing leadership across the employee and volunteer lifecycle, office operations, and organizational development initiatives. The AIBC is a professional regulator established in 1920, governing the profession of architecture in British Columbia under the Professional Governance Act. They offer flexible working arrangements and a hybrid work environment, with a dog-friendly office located in a heritage building in downtown Vancouver.

Requirements

  • A university degree in a relevant field; or a diploma in Human Resources from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation
  • 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including direct supervision of staff, team leadership, and responsibility for HR programs and initiatives
  • Experience in organizational needs analysis, change management, optimizing technology and business processes to drive efficiency
  • Experience in program creation and delivery, HR project management, policy work and implementation of standard operating procedures
  • Affinity for building connections, trust and shared meaning with diverse individuals and groups
  • Sound judgment, and ability to act with tact when dealing with sensitive or confidential matters
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Highly organized and proactive, with a solutions-oriented mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BambooHR is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the regulatory sector is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver people programs and initiatives that align with the AIBC's mission, values, and organizational objectives while fostering positive employee and volunteer experiences.
  • Optimize programs and policies, systems, metrics and processes across people operations, to support organizational performance and facilitate strong team engagement.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle from start to finish including recruitment, performance management, development, retention, and recognition.
  • Manage the AIBC Volunteer Program, in close collaboration with Departmental Staff Representatives, including recruitment, performance, development and recognition of volunteers.
  • Manage AIBC office operations to provide a safe, productive, and efficient workplace and systems for all staff.
  • Advance training and development, performance planning and management, safety and health programs, and team engagement initiatives and events.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, work safety and privacy legislation and best practices.
  • Champion Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the AIBC and foster a positive, productive, welcoming, healthy and safe workplace for all staff and volunteers.
