About The Position

Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the credit unions training program. Researches training needs within the credit union and develops programs that reflect the strategic plan of the organization. Communicates credit union goals and direction to employees, supervises staff training, and implements and conducts training programs. Responsible for the ongoing design and implementation of a comprehensive training program that encompasses organization-wide and department specific training needs and fosters an environment of continuous learning. Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Communications, Education, or related area, and a minimum of five years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and apply information from periodicals, journals, annuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables.
  • Ability to interpret and calculate basic banking concepts such as interest rates, percentages, and debt-to-income ratios to practical solutions.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality in all human resources matters, and maintains confidential records of both paper and electronic personnel files.
  • Professional business relations exist with coworkers, volunteers, and external trade contacts.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant concerns.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
  • SHRM Certification or ASTD certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, demonstrates, and promotes the Credit Union service culture.
  • Delivers high-quality, consistent service to both members and internal customers that fulfill the Credit Union's mission.
  • Maintains and projects the Credit Union's professional reputation by providing consistently exceptional service levels that exceed member expectations.
  • Plans, develops, and provides training and development programs using knowledge of effective methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, e-learning, external training sources, conferences, and workshops.
  • Conducts skill gap analysis to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Collaborates with management to develop training programs for product promotions, new services, policies, and/or procedures.
  • Ensures staff is knowledgeable and trained on all Credit Union products and services to guarantee the delivery of consistently exceptional member service.
  • Plans and provides for legally required training.
  • Reviews and evaluates training programs for compliance with NCUA standards.
  • Conducts or arranges for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for employees as needed.
  • Participates in various JHFCU committees, offering ideas and collaborating on project improvement initiatives and staff development opportunities.
  • Expands the reach of the training function by identifying and developing SMEs to function as departmental and organizational trainers.
  • Coordinates SME trainers and the scheduling of regular training activities, including on-the-job and Wednesday morning all-staff training sessions.
  • Develops and maintains metrics to measure the success and effectiveness of training efforts.
  • Ensures that the work area is clean, secure, and well-maintained, and is in compliance with the Credit Union's Non-Public Information (NPI) Security and Disposal policy.
  • Remains compliant with applicable statutes and regulations, including but not limited to BSA and the Patriot Act.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and Management.
  • Assists and informs departments and branches as needed.
  • Keeps Senior Management informed of training activities and any significant problems.
  • Completes required reports, records, and other documentation.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
  • Stays current on training programs and procedures.
  • Works with educational institutions, training providers, and other employers to network, develop training resources, and share/discover best practices.
  • Represents the Credit Union in contacts with consultants, trade professionals, and members.
  • Ensures that requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved.
  • Ensures that communications are efficient and effective.
  • Ensures that the Credit Union's professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
