About The Position

The Manager Oncology Services oversees and ensures efficient clinic operations, maintaining a high level of productivity and providing operational and technical direction. This role involves continually monitoring clinic functioning, resolving problems, and revising operations as needed. The manager analyzes department data to evaluate strengths and weaknesses, providing recommendations to physicians, staff, and leaders. They maintain clinical expertise in medical oncology and program/service development, supporting clinical staff in meeting patient needs. This position collaborates with medical oncology providers to develop and implement new programs, ensuring consistent application of treatment procedures through policies and standards. The manager also oversees area purchases, inventory control, and cost containment, while establishing effective communication with physicians and advanced practice professionals. Coordination of information flow, partnership with other market departments for quality patient services and satisfaction, and resolution of patient concerns are key responsibilities. The role involves organizing and implementing system changes, assisting with procedural manuals, and ensuring compliance with Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements. Participation in business and market growth plans, human resources responsibilities for staff (including interviewing, performance evaluations, and employee relations), and budget development and control are also integral. The manager is responsible for adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field.
  • If BSN, Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in clinical nursing, which includes experience in oncology.
  • Includes 1 year of supervisory experience in staffing, budget and supply management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including project management, process improvement, problem solving, decision making, prioritization, delegation, team building, customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to successfully and positively interact with physicians and employees at all levels throughout the organization and the public.
  • Intermediate computer skills including experiences in using computer applications in a medical practice setting.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to: lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to: lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • Must be able to: carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • Must be able to: perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional vision, speech, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and ensures efficient clinic operations, ensuring a high level of productivity and providing operational and technical direction.
  • Continually monitors the functioning of the clinic(s), resolves problems, and revises operations as needed.
  • Analyzes department data to evaluate strengths and weaknesses providing recommendations and feedback to physicians, staff and leaders.
  • Maintains clinical expertise and stays abreast in clinical issues related to medical oncology and program/service development.
  • Supports and facilitates clinical staff in meeting the physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and financial needs of patients and their significant others.
  • In conjunction with medical oncology providers and staff, develops plans for integration and implementation of new programs.
  • Ensures consistent application of treatment procedures through the establishment of procedures, policies, and standards of care.
  • Oversees area purchases to ensure appropriateness, maintenance of inventory control and cost containment.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with physicians and advanced practice professionals.
  • Coordinates the flow of information internally and to other departments to maintain quality of care.
  • Partners with other market departments and leaders to assure quality patient services and overall patient satisfaction.
  • Responsible for resolution of any patient concerns, complaints and/or problems.
  • Organizes, plans, and implements system changes and improvements.
  • Assists in establishing and complying with area procedural manuals as well as re-enforcing and complying with all the Joint Commission (TJC) standards and state and federal regulatory agency regulations.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of business and market growth plans.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
  • Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
