About The Position

This dynamic role is an important part of the YMCA’s leadership team, and serves as a resource for all staff, members, and guests during evening and weekend operations. The Manager on Duty is responsible for total building safety, security, and supervision in the absence of regular supervisory staff to ensure positive member and program participant experiences. This position will support all departments and enforce all membership, youth development and building policies in addition to performance of standard membership department duties. The Manager on Duty will perform an array of tasks including support of the Welcome Desk, tours for potential or new members, periodic checks of all areas of the building, and will handle any management level questions and all emergencies. This role will model, practice, and carry out the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to work independently at times without supervision
  • Must be a problem solver and demonstrate a proven track record of complaint resolution
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or able to complete within 30 days of employment/at first available training
  • Ability to thrive in an ever-evolving environment
  • Ability to work irregular work hours including nights & weekends
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations
  • Ability to stand or sit maintaining alertness for several hours at a time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with a diversity of people and various levels of personnel
  • Ability to effectively use a computer for data entry and research
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 40 pounds
  • All candidates must have reliable transportation
  • Job offers are contingent upon completion of a rigorous criminal history background check

Nice To Haves

  • 1 or more years of management experience in customer service setting preferred
