About The Position

Reporting to the Campus Operations and Safety Manager, the Manager on Campus serves as Hillside’s designated campus-wide administrative and operational representative during assigned hours. The Manager on Campus exercises independent judgment in coordinating staffing resources, campus safety, emergency response, regulatory and quality processes, and continuity of residential operations. Working in partnership with Pod Managers and Pod Operations Managers, the position evaluates campus conditions, establishes priorities, coordinates available personnel and resources, and determines when concerns require clinical, nursing, administrative, safety, risk-management, or Human Resources involvement. In supporting residential staff and clients, the Manager on Campus is responsible for maintaining and upholding Hillside’s standards for safe, therapeutic, compliant, and effective residential care.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree required.
  • Minimum three years of work in a residential, direct-care setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
  • Able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, walking or taking part in physical exercise programming on a recurring basis
  • Be highly alert with very quick reflexes to respond to emergency situations with clients
  • Tasks may require exposure to blood and/or bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Hillside’s designated campus-wide administrative and operational representative during assigned hours.
  • Maintain awareness of residential operations and establish immediate campus priorities.
  • Evaluate staffing, safety, environmental, documentation, quality, and operational concerns; determine appropriate action within delegated authority; and escalate matters requiring additional leadership or specialized support.
  • Assess campus-wide coverage needs and coordinate available staff and resources across pods, cottages, shifts, and common areas in partnership with pod leadership.
  • Provide immediate direction regarding campus assignments, client supervision, break coverage, emergency responsibilities, and other operational needs.
  • Address unsafe or noncompliant practices and communicate significant concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Orient employees to campus-wide procedures and provide training, coaching, and documented observations related to performance, competency, and development.
  • Monitor client care and supervision to ensure operations support safe, therapeutic, developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Communicate significant client concerns to appropriate leaders.
  • Participate in leadership of campus-wide responses to emergencies and significant disruptions by establishing priorities, initiating procedures, assigning responsibilities, securing resources, and ensuring communication and follow-up.
  • Complete campus rounds and environmental checks, initiate safeguards, assign follow-up, and ensure unresolved safety, facility, and accessibility concerns are escalated.
  • Oversee daily census verification and resolve discrepancies involving admissions, discharges, transfers, passes, hospitalizations, bed status, or client location.
  • Review Emergency Safety Intervention records for completeness and compliance, conduct required debriefings, and identify concerns requiring clinical, training, operational, performance, or administrative follow-up.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the school, dining hall, gymnasium, visitation areas, and other shared spaces.
  • Coordinate staffing, supervision, breaks, meal documentation, and weekend visitation operations.
  • Complete assigned drills, Quality Improvement reporting, accident reviews, grievance reviews, camera and monitoring reviews, nightly-report reviews, and electronic wanding-system reviews.
  • Identify trends, risks, and needed corrective action.
  • Provide temporary operational coverage for absent residential leaders, assist with campus-wide staffing disruptions, and perform assigned on-call administrative duties.
  • Collaborate with residential, clinical, nursing, education, safety, Human Resources, and administrative leaders.
  • Ensure required reports, investigations, handoffs, training records, and other documentation are accurate and timely.
  • Provide brief direct-care or transportation assistance only when necessary to protect safety or maintain essential operations until appropriate resources are available.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development and behavioral health needs and maintain competence through supervision, meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned by Management.
