About The Position

The Director of Technical Accounting is looking to hire a Manager of Technical Accounting. This person will be responsible for understanding all aspects of the financial statements, disclosure requirements, researching, resolving and documenting complex accounting issues and transactions, such as operating segments, business combinations, divestitures, hedge accounting, debt modification/extinguishment, asset retirement obligations, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, lease accounting, variable interest entities, derivatives, and impairment considerations, including goodwill and indefinite-lived intangible assets with a general understanding of business/asset valuations, stock based compensation, other non-recurring transactions and SEC disclosure requirements and comments. This position reports to the Director of Technical Accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience; Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior Technical Accounting research and reporting experience and skills a plus
  • Experience with SEC filings
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and internal control concepts
  • Skills required: analytical, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze complex information/transactions, apply appropriate accounting theory, and formulate decisions/recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • Prior Technical Accounting research and reporting experience and skills a plus

Responsibilities

  • Research the impact of new or proposed accounting standards, interpretations or regulations from the SEC, FASB, AICPA, and EITF.
  • Prepare timely, high quality white papers on all key technical matters for submission to the independent auditors and internal stakeholders and manage the timely resolution of financial reporting implications.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining an up-to-date library of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Research business development technical accounting matters (both under US GAAP and IFRS) that could impact the estimated valuation of proposed transactions.
  • Assist with review of new contracts and assess the accounting implications based on existing accounting standards, interpretations or regulations.
  • Coordinate with business leadership on inquiries related to the application of accounting policies and other technical accounting matters, such as revenue recognition, leases, insurance recoveries, stock based compensation, and asset impairments.
  • Manage the coordination with external auditors and internal auditors to ensure timely resolution of outstanding matters.
  • Execute duties as a high energy, performance-oriented, and empowered team member.
  • Monitor own workload, and have the ability to self-prioritize activities, and achieve deadlines.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings with business stakeholders productively and in an organized fashion, and follow up on any commitments.
