About The Position

Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a Manager of Spiritual Care. This position is part-time, within the Spiritual Care Department, working across all JRCHC locations. Requirements

  • Experience working in ministry (lay or ordained), chaplaincy, spiritual direction, or pastoral care with low-income, diverse, multilingual populations
  • Passion for listening to other people’s stories, including faith journeys; a heart for prayer and spiritual sensitivity to God and to the patient or staff member
  • Respectful of individuals from diverse cultures and faith backgrounds
  • Must be comfortable speaking and writing English
  • Actively pursuing one’s own spiritual health
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs or willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak other languages a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Offer spiritual care grounded in the Foundational Principles and Rubrics of Jericho Road’s “Protocols for Spiritual Care.”
  • Provide brief spiritual care encounters within the context of clinical medical appointments. (Spiritual care resources may include active listening, asking meaningful questions, prayer, and sharing of resources supportive to increased spiritual health. If requested by patients, the SC manager may provide more in-depth spiritual care visits separate from the medical visit(in person or virtually).
  • Enter narrative notes of patient encounter in Medent
  • If requested by patient, make referrals to Behavioral Health and/or update medical provider regarding any relevant or urgent patient information
  • Use Propioor in person interpreters to communicate with non-English speaking patients
  • Assist Sr. Dir. of Ministry with spiritual care for staff–care may be requested by the Director or staff member directly
  • Assist with Staff Devotions
  • Help support optional opportunities for spiritual care for staff (such as occasional emails, retreats, or other resources)
  • Ability to perform assessments of spiritual health and offer spiritual direction with discernment.
  • Lead regular meetings with the spiritual care team, including supporting volunteers.
  • Assist with establishing and achieving department goals.
  • Assist with the administration of spiritual care documents, Medent documentation.
  • Assist with expansion of the spiritual care program by recruiting, evaluating and training spiritual care volunteers
